Letter processing at Swiss Post is a high-performance operation. Several thousand staff work round the clock to make sure that the letter you post this evening reaches its addressee tomorrow morning.

The route taken by an A-Mail letter from Bergün, Graubünden to Verbier in the Valais shows just how tight scheduling can be in the letter-processing logistics chain. Faced by changing customer and market requirements (such as switching from letters to electronic means of communication) and increasing price sensitivity, Swiss Post must continue to refine its logistics operations.
