Gas – rather than diesel – for a smaller carbon footprint  

Swiss Post operates one of the largest natural-gas-powered vehicle fleets in Switzerland. Natural-gas engines emit fewer harmful ozone-generating pollutants than diesel engines.

Swiss Post wants to reduce the CO2 emissions generated by deliveries and transport and is increasingly using gas-powered vehicles. It operates one of the largest natural-gas-powered vehicle fleets in Switzerland.

Reducing emissions generated by parcel deliveries

We are using 140 gas-powered vans to deliver parcels. One key advantage of natural-gas engines compared with diesel engines is that they emit fewer harmful ozone-generating pollutants. The natural gas used by Swiss Post currently contains at least ten percent biogas.

Swiss Post intends to further expand its fleet of natural-gas vehicles, particularly if even better models come onto the market and the filling station network is expanded. We are already exclusively using natural-gas vehicles at our Mägenwil (AG) distribution base.

Natural gas for regular service buses too

Following trials in the cantons of Glarus and Jura and the Principality of Liechtenstein, natural gas will be increasingly used for regular service buses too. 25 natural-gas buses are already operating in Liechtenstein.
