Optimized energy efficiency
How Swiss Post saves energy in its buildingsSwiss Post optimizes its buildings in terms of their energy and resource efficiency. We construct new-build properties in accordance with the Minergie or Minergie eco Standard.
In Swiss Post buildings, we want to reduce energy consumption as well as heating, air-conditioning, electricity and water costs. To do so, we are relying on uncomplicated, economical and efficient measures: we reduce the temperature of the hot water, optimize controls and pump capacity, and install water-saving nozzles and toilets.
Minergie Standard for new Swiss Post buildings
Swiss Post has pledged to construct new-build properties in accordance with the Minergie or Minergie eco Standard and in such a way that they consume very little energy. The PostParc in Berne is being built in accordance with Minergie requirements. PostFinance's new headquarters, a thirteen-storey tower, is being built in accordance with the Minergie eco Standard. As well as comfort and energy efficiency, this Standard also rates a building's eco-friendly construction.
Example: PostFinance computer centres
In the computer centre in Zofingen, a heat pump replaced the oil heating; an existing air-conditioning machine was re-purposed. Now the waste heat from the systems rooms heats the building. Control and regulation of the air-conditioning machines were also optimized. These measures save around 50,000 litres of heating oil, the equivalent of around 134 tonnes of CO2 a year. Optimized air-conditioning systems have also boosted energy efficiency at the computer centre in Engehalde, Berne.
